MCT Oil: Not all it’s made up to be
I’ve dabbled with MCT Oil in the past and, in the interests of science, I found this “relatively cheap” bottle a few weeks ago and decided to give it another go. I’ve been using it regularly in small, daily quantities, as per the recommendations for about 4 weeks now. It’s pricey and controversial; it’s supposed to increase/stimulate fat burning for those already in ketosis but is it really worth the money?
The short answer is a resounding NO! On both occasions that I’ve used this product (during weight maintenance phase), I haven’t noticed anything special by way of rapid weight loss that I can attribute to MCT Oil.
Since MCT Oil is derived from coconut oil in the first place, an excellent source of saturated fats in its own right, and way cheaper, I suggest you save your hard-earned money and stick with the coconut oil, a staple in my diet anyway. I’ve decided to add MCT Oil to the same list as “high protein bars” and “low carb bread” i.e to be avoided at all costs.
Disagree?? Then let’s hear about it..
